Honoring Our Veterans

My family comes from a long line of service to our nation. Both of my grandfathers and all five of my great uncles served in the Army or the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. More recently, my brother served in the Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Like many veterans, they had come to rely on the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for help re-acclimating to civilian life. Unfortunately, with $2.558 trillion in unfunded liabilities for employee and veteran benefits,13 the present wave of servicemembers returning from active duty may end up with fewer or no benefits at all. It is a moral imperative that we take care of those who have placed themselves on the line in defense of our nation. I will do everything in my power to help connect veterans with the tools and services they need.
